5-Axis Bridge Mill

Provided industrial and mechanical design support in the design of the sheet metal guarding for a large, high-speed, 5-axis bridge mill. Several guarding concepts were created, and evaluated for styling, cost and manufacturability. The selected concept was engineered, and detail drawings were created using Pro/Engineer. Both formed and flat-pattern drawings were made. The sheet metal vender used the flat-pattern CAD files directly to create the parts. Structural evaluation was done using the ANSYS finite element analysis program. A brochure rendering was created using 3D Studio MAX.
